3.5 stars Nice guy makes good

This film is an adaptation of the same titled novel by Dickens. While it is a period drama, the story was less than compelling than most other films of the same type, or even Dickens’ other novels’ film adaptations. A family left destitute by the death of the father, relying on the malevolent Uncle Nickelby played well by Cristopher Plummer. All ends well in the end, but less compelling than most other period dramas based on well known novels. 2002
